A breast-cancer drug with boxed warnings, sometimes used off-label for gynecomastia or HPTA recovery. What to monitor and respect.
At a glance
Tamoxifen is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM): it blocks estrogen receptors in some tissues (notably breast) while acting estrogen-like in others (bone, liver). It is a long-established breast-cancer treatment and prevention drug. In performance contexts it is used off-label to treat or prevent gynecomastia and to help restart the HPTA after steroid use.
This is an educational tracking guide. Tamoxifen is prescription-only and carries boxed warnings. It deserves respect, not casual use.
Boxed warnings include uterine malignancies and serious thromboembolic events (blood clots). Report leg swelling or pain, chest pain, or breathlessness immediately. Prescription-only and not a casual ancillary; use under a physician who can weigh the clot and other risks.
